I’ve recently had an interview with PC World regarding MADE in China. It explains how, hidden underneath the oriental aesthetics, it is a $99 PC that only requires $1 a day to run, but as powerful as your current PC.

-It is definitely achievable in the next 10 years.
-It will also be the killer app for 4G mobile network.
-I think it goes with Bill Gates’s proposed “The Phone is going to be the PC” idea
-MADE in China’s holistically beneficial business model will definitely be the future of the PC environment.

For any PC & Telecommunication giants who passed by (Apple, Dell, Sony, Nokia, Vodafone etc) I hope you can have a good look at the 10 page MADE in China presentation at the MADE in China page.

I’m John@AARIVE and I’m back after the heavy workload from my architecture course!! I’ve been very pleased with all the reports I saw on the internet and the comments people have about MADE in China. To help you understand better, I will post up an FAQ regarding MADE in China very soon.

Many reports from Asia actually wonders where my ethnic background is… and here’s the revelation – I’m from Hong Kong (China), currently studying in Melbourne, Australia! I think my multicultural background has a great influence in all my designs and always take them to the next level, especially for MADE in China!

And as you see above, these beautiful photos of MADE in China shown in WinHEC. Thanks to the Industrial designer who made it and the photographers who attended the show!

This is the most exciting day for me because my design is on international press for winning Bill Gate’s Top award!! It’s an affirmation for my passion~ To celebrate this event, I will unveil 2 more of my designgraphy pages (Graphics/Industrial)!

This 3 years have been very exciting indeed - At 19, being able to win first in Sony Concept Design Award with “iDIO”… At 20, invited to Sony Japan for my ideas for iDIO, DYVI, & PLAY… And now at 21, being recognised by Bill Gates for “MADE in China” has been the most rewarding experience yet!! There are so many more things I wanted to design!! Check out what MADE in China is about and who are the other winners of this competition now via the press article!

MADE in China won Bill Gate’s top award in Microsoft’s PC Design Contest!! During Gate’s First Day Keynote in Win HEC 2007 (15May2007), Gates announced his favourite entry which he personally selected himself. The winner of the Chairman’s award, was MADE in China by John@AARIVE.

Bill Gates: “One of the most interesting, in fact the one that won the top award, called MADE in China there in the upper left, and it’s kind of a Tablet form factor, very thin and sleek, and they even let you use a pen type thing or even a chopstick type way of getting input into the machine, so quite different. And those are all in the exposition hall. I think you’ll enjoy taking a look at those.”

The MADE in China page is finally opened! With only 4 more days until the announcement of the competition’s result. We will let you get to know better about MADE in China and what is really awesome about it. Will the online voters give their votes to my design? Does it score will with  the juries? or will Bill Gate love my design? Take a look at Made in China’s page and see the future of computing.

The Unlish page is also now open!! Unlish got 2nd in Melbourne Central x RAIA Chair design competition in 2006. Unlish was a project I did when I was at ClarkeHopkinsClarke.

The iDIO page is finally OPEN!  This is for all of you who didn’t get to visit SONY’s official contest page when iDIO won the Sony Concept Design Contest in 2005. The slide show i put up in this page is actually of the material I first used to grab Sony’s interested before they invited me to Japan. Follow this link to see the revolution of iDIO and how it gives birth to a brand new entertainment industry now!! Click Here.
